Alambra Primary School Cyprus
Alambra Primary School is a public institution which was founded in 1901. It is situated in the centre of Alambra village and on the outskirts of Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus. It is worth mentioning that to the south-east of the village a series of archeological excavations have brought to light a settlement and a burial site dating from the Middle Bronze Age.
Ninety students are enrolled in Alambra Primary School. These range from first to sixth grade (6-11 years old). There is one class in each level e.g. one first class, one second class etc. This academic year twelve teachers are employed in the school. This includes a speech therapist and a special education teacher who visit the school on a regular basis. The school can be considered as multi-cultural since there is a small percentage of students who come from different ethnic and religious backgrounds. In addition, a large number of the students are refugees due to the displacement that took place since the Turkish invasion in Cyprus in 1974.
