"Elio Vittorini" is a comprehensive school, that is for students from 3 to 13. We've got seven plexuses in two neighboring villages: S.Pietro Clarenza and Camporotondo Etneo. Every village has own kindergarten, primary and middle school. Kindergarten is for children from 3 to 5. Primary school is for ones from 6 to 10 and middle school ( also called secondary first grade) for students from 11 to 13.
Our school gives a musical training, so the pupils of middle school can choose to play a musical instrument (piano, flute, guitar or clarinet) and study it in the afternoon at school. We have a successful orchestra, made up of our students. We often take part in and do very well in competitions.
We haven't got a canteen. Our lessons start at 8 a.m. and finish at 2 p.m.On Saturday we haven't any lessons. In the afternoon there are other labs like foreign languages (English and French), dramatisation etc. We're also Trinity centre and students can do the examination at school.
As regard students with special educational needs, every Italian school has the "support teachers" who help students with learning disabilities. They work together with the other teachers, mixing special needs and other pupils within the inclusive school, so the final aim the integration with the class.
